7 steps in preparing the "Rambo" painting BEFORE oil paint was even applied

step 1 - stretch the canvas and put braces in

step 2 - canvas ready for cardboard pieces to be glued down (took 2 days to tear up and bend/wrinkle cardboard pieces)

step 3 - gluing down the cardboard in 1/4 sections at a time

step 4 - after all the cardboard is glued down (nearly 2 pints or 1 liter of glue were used), it is now ready for gesso paint to seal it and give it more texture

step 5 - almost finished with gesso filling in all the nooks and crannies

step 6 - priming coat over the dried gesso paint using dark acrylic colors to fill in all the nooks and crannies and covering up all the white so no white is showing through at all

step 7 - now it is ready to start the oil paint after the image was drawn out using the grid technique

finished 4 ft x 5 ft Rambo painting
