Rambo painting designed as a one sheet movie poster (see description below in artist's own words)****** to read a write-up on Sylvester Stallone's web site click HERE ******

If you haven't seen RAMBO in the theatres yet, go see it!! It is the BEST RAMBO movie so far. It has to be the best action flick of the century. Never a dull moment in this one. If Stallone can be anymore Rambo, he IS in this one. He is Rambo through and through and then some! He's tougher and he's angrier. It's a MUST see on the big screen. Stallone also does a great job directing his first RAMBO film. The film's ending is unpredictable and chilling with the awesome music by Brian Tyler. Jerry Goldsmith would be proud. This film leaves you with wanting more, as in another RAMBO so he can come full circle. The cinematography makes the most of the beautiful landscape of Thailand. Detail of painting

Some photo references of artist used for "Rambo" painting (Bill frequently uses himself as a model for his paintings by using a digital camera on a tripod with remote). ***NOTE*** Good thing Rambo didn't use THAT bow and arrow on the Burmese soldiers. The movie would've only lasted 30 minutes.

RAMBO
About this painting by Artist Bill Pruitt

This painting was designed as a movie poster for the new movie "RAMBO". This is apparent with the spaces at top and bottom for title, credits, logos, etc. It measures 27"x40"(official size of a one-sheet poster). I wanted to give it the spirit of "RAMBO" with his "don't mess with me" expression and overall feel of the movie based on a lot of research studying early trailers, photos, etc. I actually modeled as the soldiers and a little for Rambo shooting the bow and arrow since those images were totally created from scratch. If you look close, some of the soldier's likenesses are from the movie. In the central shot of Rambo's face, I wanted it to be more personal (from Rambo's point of view) to make him looking straight at the viewer as opposed to his right from how he was in the popular reference still photo. Also, there is a hint of spirituality with a slight halo around Rambo's central image because he is like an angel to the Karen people of Burma and to the missionaries. He is on a mission to save the Christian missionaries in trouble as well with the help of a handful of mercenaries. The small cross on his wrist (given to him by Sarah a missionary) is pronounced too. The upper background of the painting was filled out by an actual scene in the movie where Rambo blows up an enemy patrol boat.

It is done in mixed media(water-mixable oils and color pencil) on thick acid-free illustration board and coated with a clear varnish. As with all my paintings of Sylvester Stallone, his name "SLY" is hidden somewhere.
